The U.S. History and Government Regents Examination
was recently redesigned in June 2001. This exam debuted the use
of thematic and DBQ essays.
U.S. History and Government exams issued prior to June 2001 contained
multiple-choice question items much like the ones found on the current
exam. However, the essays on these older exams were more traditional,
and therefore constructed differently than the modern thematic and
DBQ essays.
These older exams, particularly the multiple-choice
sections, may still be used to review for the new U.S. History
and Government Regents Examinations.
