Conventions and Definitions
The direction of a magnetic field is defined as the direction that the north pole of a compass (magnet on a swivel) would point when placed in the field.
- The field lines drawn are imaginary lines of force - Flux Lines. The closer they are, the stronger the field.
- Always point from N to S (outside a magnet)
