Students need to understand what
criteria will be used to evaluate their work. Just how "picky"
will the teacher be when grading proofs, or how "picky" will the Regents Examination grading rubrics be when it comes
to grading proofs? |
|
Materials: -
Practice proof problems. Regents Examination Questions can be used.
- Rubric or grading outline.
- Handouts of several completed proofs ready to be graded.
Prepare one set for each group of students. These problems
can be the
works of your students (with names withheld) or
just
sample problems that
you developed. The problems should be
of varying quality answers.
Directions: Have
students work in groups. Challenge the
students to grade each of
the problems using the grading rubric or outline. When the grading is complete,
compare the answers from each of the groups. Discuss similarities
and
differences between the scores. Reveal what you think is the
appropriate
score.
You may find that your students can be
even more "picky" than their teacher!
