Sectors and Pizza:
Bring in two (or more) pizzas of different sizes.
Have the pizzas cut so that there will be enough slices for the
entire class. Before eating, have students determine which
slices will contain "more" pizza (by finding the areas of
sectors). Cut a larger pizza into 16 pieces and a smaller
pizza into 8 pieces to keep the students guessing as to which
piece is "more" pizza. |
| If a third pizza is used, do not cut the
pizza. Ask students to determine into how many pieces
should this third pizza (of a differing diameter) be cut so that
the pieces will contain approximately as "much" pizza as each
slice of the larger pizza. |
