Cartoon Sequencing

The process of "Cartoon sequencing" ...
as a warm-up activity to the study of sequences.

1.  Find a cartoon, from your local newspaper, that contains a series of frames.
2.  Reproduce the cartoon for use in your classroom.
3.  Cut the frames of the cartoon apart before distributing to students.
4.  Place the frames in baggies or envelopes to keep them together.
5.  Give each student, or group of students, a baggie or envelope.
6.  Ask students to reassemble the cartoon into its proper order.

Follow-up the activity with a discussion of "sequential nature", based upon time or patterning.

Cartoons are copyrighted and cannot be reproduced on the internet,
so we are not able to give you a visual example.
