"Roll out" Exponents of i
Topic Index | Algebra2/Trig Index | Regents Exam Prep Center

Grab the dice and "roll out" some exponents of i.

Method 1:  Provide each student (or group of students) with dice.  Ask them to create 10 problems involving exponents of i by rolling the dice.  The number rolled on the dice will be the exponent.  All answers must be simplified.

Method 2:  Play Exponent BINGO.  Give each student a blank Bingo card and ask them to number the card in any fashion from 1 to 24.  Allow for a free space.  Use your graphing calculator to produce random numbers from 1 to 24.

To generate RANDOM BINGO NUMBERS with your graphing calculator:

MATH --- PRB
                                  #5 randInt(
                                  ENTER

                                  randInt(1,24)
where 1 is your lowest value and 24 is your highest value.

The students are to find that number on their bingo cards and write the answer of i raised to that power.  Traditional Bingo alignments win - horizontal, vertical, and diagonal (unless you wish to get more creative and use options such as four corners).
