As an
exercise in writing in the content area, ask students to
create 10 open sentences. This may be a homework assignment
or a class activity. |
 |
|
The directions may
include:
-
a directive that
there must be 5 algebraic sentences.
-
a directive that
there must be questions which reflect a particular unit of study.
-
a directive that
there must be at least 2 questions pertaining to a hobby or interest.
-
a need for a
designated domain for each question.
-
a request that the
questions be placed on 3x5 cards.
-
a need for an answer
key on a separate sheet of paper.
Arrange the students
in groups (or pairs.) Collect the cards from the students in each
group along with the answer keys. Distribute the cards to a different
group -- keep the answer keys.
(Keep
the cards and answer keys grouped together so that grading will be easier.)
When the groups have
decided upon their answers, you may collect the papers for grading or you
may share the answer keys with the students and let them check their own
work.
